What to Expect

Bealach an tSolais (Path of the Light) is the annual Meath Diocesan pilgrimage walk from the Hill of Tara to the Hill of Slane, retracing a route associated with St Patrick who lit the Paschal Fire on the Hill of Slane in 433 AD, within sight of the high kings at Tara. The walk is approximately 15 km through the Meath countryside and is open to all. The 2025 event took place on 30 August; the 2026 edition is expected in the same late-August window. Participants are encouraged to make a donation to a diocesan project. The walk ends with prayer at Slane friary.
