Let's Go Kids Summer Camp - Trim

At Boyne Community School · Trim, Co. Meath

Children at a Let's Go summer camp in Trim Meath

A week-long summer camp run by Let’s Go Kids Camps Ireland, one of the country’s most established providers of school-holiday activity programmes. The camp takes place at Boyne Community School on the edge of Trim town and is aimed at primary school children aged 5 to 12. For parents who need reliable, full-day childcare through July and August, and for children who want a structured week away from screens and boredom, it is one of the better-value options in Co. Meath - a full Monday to Friday programme at a single venue, staffed by qualified teachers and teaching undergraduates.

What to expect

Let’s Go camps divide children into two groups. The 5-6 age group gets a modified, play-centred programme designed for those who have just started or are about to start primary school. For the 7-12 group the timetable is far busier: human table football, bungee trampoline, hurling, rounders, badminton, crazy golf, orienteering, bouncy castle, parachute games, tug-of-war, lacrosse, team challenges, basketball and mini rugby all feature across the five days.

Boyne Community School is well suited to hosting a camp of this kind. The school has a state-of-the-art gymnasium, outdoor football pitches and two handball courts. It also sits on the bank of the River Boyne, which staff use for seasonal water activities. Children should pack a substantial packed lunch and three to four non-fizzy drinks each day. The camp asks that no nut products are sent in, due to allergies among campers.

Getting there

Trim is the county town of Meath, about 50 km north-west of Dublin. By car, take the M3 motorway from Dublin and exit at Junction 5 (Dunshaughlin), then follow the R154 into Trim - roughly 45 to 50 minutes from the city. From Drogheda, the R161 brings you south-west through Navan and on to Trim in around 35 minutes. Bus Eireann route 111 connects Dublin Busaras with Trim a number of times daily. Boyne Community School is on the Dublin Road side of town and has on-site parking.

While you’re in Trim

Trim is home to the largest Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland and the town is compact enough that you can walk from the school gates to the medieval core in a few minutes. Dropping children off for the morning and doing the castle or a riverside walk before collection is very manageable. There is more to see in Trim and across Co. Meath.
