At Iontas Theatre and Arts Centre · Connabury, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan
Country and Irish singer Michael English brings his 2026 concert tour to the Iontas Theatre in Castleblayney on Thursday, 17 September 2026 at 8pm. The Sligo born singer has built one of the busiest touring schedules in Irish country music, and this is a seated theatre show rather than a hotel function room dance night, giving Castleblayney a proper concert stop on the tour. It is a separate date from his dance night at the Four Seasons Hotel in Monaghan town in August, at a different venue with a different format.
The show is billed as an all new programme built around English’s biggest hits, including Locklin’s Bar, Tuam Beat and Nearest to Perfect, alongside Irish classics played at the piano and country standards associated with Hank Williams and Elvis Presley. English’s shows are known for their energy and musicianship, and for how directly he plays to the crowd rather than just running through a set list. Because Iontas is a seated theatre rather than a standing hotel ballroom, expect a proper concert atmosphere with a full sound and lighting rig, closer to a night at the theatre than a dance in the hotel bar. The venue and promoters have flagged that tickets for the 2026 tour are expected to sell quickly.
Iontas Theatre and Arts Centre is in Connabury on the edge of Castleblayney town centre, a short walk or drive from Castleblayney’s Main Street. The box office can be reached on 042 975 3400 for ticket queries.
Castleblayney sits on Lough Muckno, so a concert night at Iontas can easily be paired with a walk around the lake earlier in the day. There is more to see in Castleblayney and across Co. Monaghan.
