At The Academy · 57 Middle Abbey Street, Dublin 1
Molotov are one of the most important bands to come out of Latin America in the past three decades, and their show at The Academy on 1 July 2026 is a rare chance to see them on an Irish stage. Formed in Mexico City in 1995, the band built a sound that sits at a crossroads no one else quite occupies - rock guitars that hit hard, hip-hop flow with real political bite, ska rhythms that get a crowd moving, and lyrics that have been soundtracking protest and celebration in equal measure since before most of the people in the room were old enough to go to gigs. This Dublin date sits within their ongoing anniversary run, celebrating thirty years of music, and follows a sold-out show at the same venue in June 2025. If you missed last year, this is your second chance.
The set will pull from across a catalogue that spans tracks like Gimme tha Power, Voto Latino and Frijolero - songs that carry genuine cultural weight and still land hard live. Molotov are not a nostalgia act. They play with urgency, the crowd tends to sing every word, and the floor at The Academy gets loud. The main room holds around 650 standing plus a balcony, which means you are close to the stage wherever you end up. Doors open at 7:00pm, so plan to be there early if you want a decent spot. The show is over-18s only, and ID will be required on the door.
The Academy is at 57 Middle Abbey Street, Dublin 1, a short walk north from the Ha’penny Bridge and about five minutes on foot from O’Connell Street. If you are coming by Luas, the Red Line stops at Jervis - exit towards Mary Street and you are two minutes away. Dublin Bus serves O’Connell Street from most of the city, and numerous routes stop within easy walking distance. Parking in the city centre on a Tuesday night is possible at the Jervis Street multi-storey or along the north quays, though public transport is the easier option and avoids the hassle of late-night queues to exit car parks.
Middle Abbey Street puts you in the middle of a city with a lot on offer - the north inner city has theatres, markets, and the River Liffey a street away. There is more to see in Dublin and across Co. Dublin.
