Nathan Carter Live in Concert

At Tullamore Court Hotel · Tullamore Court Hotel, O'Moore Street, Tullamore, Co. Offaly

Nathan Carter country music concert

Nathan Carter is one of the biggest names in Irish country music, and a night in his company is reliably high energy. Born in Liverpool to parents from Newry, he was playing accordion at four, took the All-Ireland title for traditional singing at ten, and by his twenties was outselling One Direction and Michael Bublé in Ireland on the back of his huge 2012 cover of “Wagon Wheel”. He plays a blend of country, Irish folk, and feel-good ballads that fills a dancefloor as readily as it brings a standing ovation - and the Tullamore Court Hotel’s ballroom is exactly the kind of venue he thrives in.

What to expect

Expect a full band show running from 8pm through to around 10:30pm. Nathan Carter’s live sets draw on over thirteen studio albums, so there is no shortage of material - from the big singalong anthems like “Wagon Wheel” and “Give Me a Reason” through to the Irish country standards and newer tracks his touring band has built around him. The crowd at these Midlands dates tends to be a broad mix: couples, groups of friends, and fans who follow him from town to town. The Tullamore Court is a four-star hotel that has been hosting acts like Foster & Allen and Derek Ryan for years, so the sound set-up and sightlines are solid. Dress is smart-casual at most of these events, though you will see everything from sequins to jeans on the night.

Tickets are not refundable once purchased, so be sure of your date before booking. The organiser lists this on Eventbrite and the hotel also takes bookings directly by phone.

Getting there

Tullamore is the county town of Offaly and sits right on the M6 motorway corridor between Dublin and Galway - it is roughly an hour from Dublin and 90 minutes from Galway city. From Dublin, Bus Eireann runs regular services to Tullamore (route 23), and Irish Rail’s Dublin Heuston to Galway/Westport line stops in Tullamore, making it one of the better-connected Midlands towns for an evening out. The Tullamore Court Hotel is on O’Moore Street near the town centre; the hotel has on-site parking available, and street parking is generally easy to find on a Thursday evening.

While you’re in Tullamore

Tullamore is worth a proper look if you arrive early - the Tullamore D.E.W. distillery visitor centre is a short walk away and runs tours most of the day, and the town’s main street has a good range of pubs and restaurants for pre-show food and drinks. There is more to see in Tullamore and across Co. Offaly.
