What to Expect

Rossnowlagh Farmers Market runs every Friday from 10am to 1pm at the Council Car Park above Rossnowlagh’s Blue Flag beach, one of the best known strands on the Donegal coast. Traders sell local and organic produce, including vegetables, salads and microgreens, alongside home baking, flowers and other Irish-made goods. It’s a small, community-run market rather than a large commercial one, with organisers describing it as “no pressure, no booking, no stress” for visitors who just want to browse. Because it sits right beside the beach car park, it draws a mix of locals doing a weekly shop and holidaymakers who happen to be down at Rossnowlagh for the surf or the sand.

Getting There

Rossnowlagh is on the coast road between Ballyshannon and Donegal Town, off the N15, and is best reached by car. The market sets up in the Council Car Park that serves the beach itself, so parking is on site, though spaces can fill on a busy summer Friday given the car park also serves beachgoers and surfers using Rossnowlagh’s well known surf breaks. There is no rail or scheduled bus stop directly at the beach, so most visitors either drive themselves or come as part of a day trip from Ballyshannon or Donegal Town, both around ten minutes away by car.

Rossnowlagh’s market is one of several similar weekly and monthly farmers and country markets that run across Donegal, alongside comparable stalls in Donegal Town, Ballybofey, Letterkenny and further up the coast in Ramelton, Buncrana, Carndonagh, Dunfanaghy and Killybegs, so the same small producers sometimes turn up at more than one of these markets over the course of a month.
