Stephen Wilson Jr at Trinity Summer Series Dublin

Stephen Wilson Jr plays Trinity College Dublin on 30 June 2026 as part of the Trinity Summer Series - an outdoor concert run that takes over the historic College Park grounds in the centre of the city for seven consecutive nights. Wilson is an American singer-songwriter who moves between country, folk and Americana, and his story is an unusual one: he came to music after stints as a boxing champion and a scientist before landing in Nashville and building a reputation as one of the more distinctive voices to come out of that scene in recent years. His debut double album søn of dad, dedicated to his late father, was named album of the year by Holler and called “a record for the ages” by several publications. Irish audiences took to him early, and his previous Dublin headline show at The Academy sold out. The Trinity date is a step up in scale - and with support from Dublin singer Sorcha Richardson, this is shaping up as one of the stronger nights of the summer series.

What to expect

The show takes place on College Park - the grass area at the heart of Trinity’s campus - which is transformed into a standing outdoor concert venue each summer. Gates open at 7:00pm and the music starts at 7:30pm. The setting is genuinely unusual for a gig: a 400-year-old university campus in the middle of Dublin city, surrounded by the college’s Georgian buildings, with a summer evening crowd gathered around a stage in the open air.

Wilson’s set draws heavily from søn of dad and his follow-up work, including the single “Gary” which he premiered on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and which has become a radio staple. He has appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Later… with Jools Holland and NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers - so the live show has been road-tested well beyond the indie circuit. Expect a tight, emotionally direct performance built around storytelling songs and a voice that tends to stop rooms.

The Trinity Summer Series runs 29 June to 5 July 2026, with different headline acts each night. The full lineup includes James Arthur, Wet Leg, Glen Hansard and The Kooks on other dates. This is a standing-only event on grass, so dress for Irish summer weather and wear comfortable footwear.

Getting there

Trinity College is on College Green in Dublin 2, right in the city centre. All concert entry is via Lincoln Place - the gate beside The Lincoln Inn pub on the south-east side of the campus. The nearest DART station is Pearse Street, a five-minute walk. The Luas Green Line stops at Dawson Street, also about five minutes on foot. Multiple Dublin Bus routes serve Nassau Street and Westland Row. There is no public parking on site and the surrounding streets are busy on summer evenings, so public transport or city centre car parks are the practical options. If you are driving in, Q-Park on Setanta Place or St Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre are the nearest multi-storeys.

While you’re in Dublin

College Green sits at the centre of one of the most walkable parts of Dublin - Grafton Street, St Stephen’s Green, Merrion Square and the cultural quarter around Temple Bar are all within ten minutes on foot. There is more to see in Dublin and across Co. Dublin.
