What to Expect

Swords’ food market sets up on the grounds of the medieval Swords Castle rather than the town’s Main Street, and it runs monthly rather than every week. It is one of the Explore Fingal Markets, run by Fingal County Council with Fingal Food Circle and Fingal Farmers producers, and the castle setting gives it a different feel from the more retail-park venues used elsewhere in Fingal. Expect fresh produce, artisan breads, cheeses and other locally made food from a rotating group of small producers.

Getting There

Swords Castle sits in Swords town centre, close to the Swords Central bus corridor served by frequent Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead routes from the city centre and Dublin Airport, which is only a few kilometres away. There is parking in the town centre a short walk from the castle grounds for anyone driving from elsewhere in north county Dublin.

While You’re There

Swords town centre is a five-minute walk from the castle, with the Pavilions Shopping Centre and Main Street cafes and shops nearby for anyone extending the visit. Fingal County Council uses the castle grounds for occasional heritage events through the year, so it is worth checking what else is on the same date. Because the market only runs monthly, it tends to draw a steady crowd rather than the bigger footfall of a weekly market, which makes for an easier browse.
