The 4 of Us have been part of Irish music for over three decades, and a night watching them live is a reminder of just how good a well-crafted Irish song can be. The Newry-born brothers Brendan and Declan Murphy anchored the band from the start, and their two-guitar storytelling approach has always been the core of the sound. This is a show for anyone who grew up with their debut album, for folk-rock fans who enjoy tight acoustic playing, and for anyone who simply wants to hear songs performed with real conviction in an intimate theatre space.
The 4 of Us play Wexford Arts Centre Theatre on 4 July 2026 as part of their ongoing touring schedule. The band blends rock, folk, and pop in a way that sits comfortably in a seated theatre - this is not a standing-crowd gig but a listening show, the kind where the room goes quiet when the song needs it. Their debut album Songs for the Tempted (1989) went double platinum in Ireland and the single “Mary” was one of the most played songs on Irish radio that year. They have kept releasing new material since, most recently Crescent Night in 2024, so expect a set that mixes the familiar older songs with more recent work. The Wexford Arts Centre Theatre is a relatively compact space inside a neoclassical building dating from 1776 - originally the town’s Cornmarket - which makes for a warm acoustic environment. Sightlines from most seats are good and the atmosphere tends to be relaxed.
Wexford town sits on the south-east coast, about 140 km from Dublin via the M11 and N11. The drive from Dublin takes around 90 minutes in normal traffic. From Waterford it is under an hour on the N25. Wexford train station is a short walk from the town centre; Irish Rail runs regular services from Dublin Connolly and from Rosslare Europort. The Arts Centre is on Cornmarket, just off the main pedestrian street - it is easy to find on foot from anywhere in the town centre. Street parking is available in surrounding streets and there are public car parks nearby, though Saturday evening in town can be busy so allow a few extra minutes.
