Toxic - Abhishek Upmanyu

At O'Reilly Theatre · O'Reilly Theatre, Dublin, Co. Dublin

Toxic - Abhishek Upmanyu stand-up comedy show at O'Reilly Theatre Dublin

One of India’s most-watched stand-up comedians brings his touring show “Toxic” to Dublin this summer. Abhishek Upmanyu performs in Hindi, drawing on sharp personal storytelling, fast-paced delivery, and a dry wit that has earned him over two million YouTube subscribers and tens of millions of views on specials like “Jealous of Sabziwala.” If you follow the Indian comedy circuit - or you’re simply after a strong live night with a performer who has serious stage craft - this is a well-above-average evening out. The show is 18+ with allocated seating, so you can plan your night properly.

What to expect

Upmanyu started out as a chemical engineer before moving full-time into comedy. That background shows in how he builds a bit - methodical and precise, then detonated. His material covers relationships, family dynamics, language gaps, and the particular absurdities of Indian social life. “Toxic” is his current international touring show. The performance is in Hindi, aimed squarely at Hindi-speaking audiences. The O’Reilly Theatre at Belvedere College on Great Denmark Street is a purpose-built 500-seat venue with full technical rigging, a bar, and wheelchair access - a proper room for a proper act. Two showtimes are listed (5:00 PM and 8:00 PM); doors open at 7:00 PM for the evening show. Presented by GK Entertainment, an Irish promoter who regularly brings South Asian touring acts to Dublin.

Getting there

The O’Reilly Theatre sits on Great Denmark Street, a short walk from O’Connell Street in the city centre. From Connolly Station it is about 10 minutes on foot; Dublin Bus routes along O’Connell Street drop you within five minutes. If you are driving in, parking on Great Denmark Street is limited in the evening - Q-Park Parnell Street and surface car parks around Gardiner Street are a short walk away.

While you’re in Dublin

Great Denmark Street sits at the edge of Georgian Dublin’s Northside, close to the Garden of Remembrance and the Dublin Writers Museum on Parnell Square, both worth a look before the show if you arrive early. There is more to see in Dublin and across Co. Dublin.
