Tramore Racecourse’s August Festival is the biggest meeting of the year at the seaside track, four days of racing from Thursday 13 to Sunday 16 August 2026. It is the headline fixture among the course’s eleven race days a year, built around evening cards through the working week, a dedicated Style Evening, and a family afternoon to close out the weekend.
Thursday 13th and Friday 14th run as evening meetings, with competitive jumps and flat racing under the lights and the course’s usual summer entertainment around the enclosures. Saturday 15th is Style Evening, pairing the card with a fashion element that draws a big crowd dressed for the occasion, one of the busiest nights of the racing year at Tramore. Sunday 16th switches to an afternoon card pitched at families, with racing suitable for all ages closing the festival out. Tramore is a tight, undulating track that suits a certain type of horse, so the racing itself tends to be competitive and closely watched by regulars, while the wider festival atmosphere, food stalls, bars and music around the parade ring, brings in plenty of people who are there for the occasion as much as the racing.
Tramore is about 13km south of Waterford city, around 15 minutes’ drive via the R675, and Suirway and Bus Eireann services run regularly between the city and the town. The racecourse sits on the edge of Tramore itself, within walking distance of the town centre, but expect extra traffic on festival evenings and to allow time for parking.
