At Wexford Arts Centre Theatre · Cornmarket, Wexford, Co. Wexford
Tulua are one of the most talked-about young acts in Irish traditional music, and their show at Wexford Arts Centre Theatre on 28 June 2026 carries an extra charge - Cian O’Grady, the band’s multi-instrumentalist, is from Wexford, so this is part homecoming. If you have been curious about where contemporary trad is going, this is a good night to find out.
Tulua formed in 2019 and have since toured Ireland, Canada, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, France and the United States, building a following on the strength of their live energy as much as their recordings. The four-piece - fiddle and vocals, flute and mandolin, piano and fiddle, and bouzouki and guitar - play traditional Irish tunes and songs in a way that feels both rooted and alive. Their 2023 debut album was followed by “In The Snug” in 2024, and the band are currently on an album launch tour.
The Wexford Arts Centre Theatre is an intimate venue; there are no bad seats and the acoustics suit acoustic Irish music well. Expect a programme of sets and songs covering tunes from their local area alongside material gathered from further afield - Tulua’s name translates roughly as “tribe of many paths,” which gives you a sense of how broadly they draw.
Wexford town is about 1 hour 40 minutes from Dublin by car on the N11/M11, or roughly 2 hours by Bus Eireann from Busaras (route 2). Wexford town is also served by Irish Rail on the Rosslare line, with the station about a 10-minute walk from Cornmarket. Street parking is available around the town centre in the evenings; the Redmond Square and Common Quay Street areas are the closest options to the venue.
Wexford town rewards a longer stay - the narrow medieval streets behind the quay are pleasant to walk, and the town is a short drive from the beaches at Curracloe and Rosslare. There is more to see in Wexford and across Co. Wexford.
