Fermanagh Feast & Folk Festival

At Enniskillen Castle · Enniskillen Castle, Fermanagh, Co. Fermanagh

Fermanagh Feast & Folk Festival at Enniskillen Castle

The Fermanagh Feast & Folk Festival is a free summer day out at one of the most striking settings in the north of Ireland - the grounds of Enniskillen Castle, right on the bank of the River Erne. It is organised by Fermanagh & Omagh District Council and pulls together over 50 local artisan food and craft producers alongside live folk music, cultural dance, and cooking demonstrations. Families with children tend to do well here: there is enough going on across the five hours to hold everyone, and the castle grounds give the whole thing room to breathe.

What to expect

The food stalls are the backbone of the day, with local producers bringing artisan breads, cheeses, cured meats, and seasonal produce from across the county. In previous years, Arts Ekta added a multicultural food tasting element - dishes from India, China, Poland, and Arabic traditions sitting alongside the Fermanagh-grown fare - which gives the festival a broader reach than a standard country market.

Live cooking demonstrations from chef Paula McIntyre have featured at the castle grounds across earlier editions, with sessions typically running across the day at staggered times. It is worth checking the Fermanagh Lakelands website nearer the date to see whether she or other chefs are confirmed for 2026.

Folk music runs through the afternoon. Traditional sets from local families and groups form the core of the entertainment, and past editions have also included Bollywood, Chinese fan, and Mexican dance performances - a mix that makes more sense once you see it than it sounds on paper. The castle’s twin-turreted Watergate makes a natural backdrop for all of it.

Getting there

Enniskillen is roughly 90 minutes south-west of Belfast via the A4, and about 30 minutes from Omagh. Bus Eireann and Translink both serve the town, with connections from Sligo, Monaghan, and Belfast. The castle sits in the town centre on the riverbank, so it is walkable from any of the central car parks. Town centre parking fills up on busy summer Saturdays, so arriving on the earlier side of 11am gives you a better chance of a space close in.

While you’re in Enniskillen

The castle itself houses the Fermanagh County Museum and the Inniskillings Museum - both free to enter - and the Watergate and Keep are worth a slow look before or after the festival crowds thin out. Lough Erne is a short distance away if you want to extend the day on the water. There is more to see in Enniskillen and across Co. Fermanagh.
