Animale by Hanna Tuulikki at Void Art Centre

At Void Art Centre · 10 Waterloo Place, Derry, Co. Derry

Gallery space at Void Art Centre in Derry showing film and sound installation work

What to Expect

Animale is a solo exhibition by British-Finnish artist and composer Hanna Tuulikki, showing at Void Art Centre in Derry from 4 July to 5 September 2026. The show brings together three film and sound works, Deer Dancer (2019), cloud-cuckoo-island (2016) and a new piece, Seahorse (2026), exploring how gendered identities are shaped through entanglements between humans and the more-than-human world. Tuulikki uses vocal performance, costume and cinematic embodiment to reimagine masculinity as something performed and mutable, reframing it through animal behaviour, myth and ecological relation. The works draw on ritual, lament and testimony, and use voice and multispecies communication to explore cycles of interdependence and trauma. The exhibition launched with a public opening on Saturday 4 July, 6pm to 8pm, with refreshments provided.

Void is Derry’s leading contemporary art gallery, known for commissioning ambitious new work by Irish and international artists across film, sound, sculpture and performance. The gallery moved to its current Waterloo Place premises in 2021 and continues to run a programme of exhibitions, artist talks, tours and youth and community projects alongside its main shows.
