Garter Lane Arts Centre screens a 25th anniversary print of Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Amélie on Friday, 28 August 2026, at 7:30pm. The screening launches the venue’s autumn Waterford Film For All season, its regular programme of curated film screenings distinct from mainstream cinema listings. Tickets cost €7.50 concession or €9 full price, including booking fee.
Amélie follows a shy young waitress in Montmartre who sets out to fix the lives of people around her while avoiding her own, told through Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s distinctive visual style of saturated colour and playful, storybook framing. Twenty five years after its original release, the film remains one of the most widely loved French language films of its era, and this screening gives it a rare outing on a cinema screen in Waterford rather than a home viewing. As the season opener for Waterford Film For All, the screening also serves as an introduction to Garter Lane’s wider film programme, which runs through the autumn with a mix of classic revivals, arthouse titles and special screenings such as National Theatre Live broadcasts.
