What to Expect

GROW HQ is GIY’s purpose-built food and growing centre on the Dunmore Road in Waterford city, combining a cafe, a shop and a cookery school in one building. On the last Saturday of every month, it hosts a long-table supper club built around whatever the GIY Farm at Curraghmore Estate has produced that season. Head of Food Bruno Dantes and Head Grower Richard Mee put together a three-course menu that follows what they call the arc of the growing year, opening with sharing starters and a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian main course, and finishing with a homegrown dessert. Diners sit together at a single long table rather than at separate tables, which the organisers describe as a convivial, sociable format rather than a conventional restaurant service. Organic wines are available to buy separately alongside the meal. GIY, the organisation behind GROW HQ, markets the evening as the best-value homegrown dining experience in Waterford, and it draws a mix of regulars and first-timers who book online in advance. The next sitting falls on Saturday, 29 August 2026, with further dates following on the last Saturday of each subsequent month through the autumn. Past sittings have carried a five-star average from diners who booked, and the organisers recommend booking early since tables at each monthly sitting are limited.
