Westmeath Intermediate Football Championship

At TEG Cusack Park and other club grounds · TEG Cusack Park, Cusack Road, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath

Intermediate Gaelic football championship match at a Westmeath club ground

The Westmeath Intermediate Football Championship sits one tier below the senior grade and its group stage runs through August, with round 2 played on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August 2026. Sections A and B each field several clubs, with fixtures split between TEG Cusack Park in Mullingar and grounds at Moate, Caulry and Shandonagh. Winning promotion through this grade, or avoiding relegation, is the season’s central storyline for the clubs involved.

What to expect

Confirmed round 2 fixtures: Castledaly v Shandonagh and St Malachy’s v Milltownpass, both at TEG Cusack Park and Moate respectively (5:30pm) on Saturday 8 August, then Rosemount v Maryland at Caulry GAA (2:15pm), Castletown-Finea-Coole-Whitehall v St Mary’s Rochfortbridge at Shandonagh GAA Club (4:00pm), and Milltown v Multyfarnham at TEG Cusack Park (5:30pm) on Sunday 9 August. This is solid, competitive club football with a genuine local following, particularly where a Cusack Park venue draws supporters already in town for the senior fixture on the same afternoon. Expect gate admission, a club programme, and a mix of experienced club players and emerging younger talent. The group stage continues weekly through August, with the top finishers in each section progressing to the knockout rounds later in the championship.

Getting there

TEG Cusack Park is on the Cusack Road on the northern edge of Mullingar, a short walk from the town centre with parking at the grounds. Moate and Caulry are reachable from the N6, and Shandonagh GAA Club is signposted from the Castlepollard road; each ground has its own car parking.
