At Lilliput Adventure Centre · Lough Ennell, Lilliput, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath
The Celtic Warrior Multi-Sport Weekend is one of the biggest endurance events on the Irish sporting calendar, drawing swimmers, cyclists, runners, and triathletes to the shores of Lough Ennell for a full August weekend. It runs across two days - 1st and 2nd August 2026 - at the Lilliput Adventure Centre, about ten minutes south of Mullingar. The range of distances on offer means this is as much a weekend for someone completing their first 10K as it is for seasoned half-iron athletes tackling 1.9km of open water, 90km on the bike, and a half-marathon on tired legs.
The event is built around three core disciplines: open-water swimming in Lough Ennell, road cycling through the Co. Westmeath countryside, and running. Entry options range from a 10K run/walk at one end to the full Half Warrior (triathlon) at the other, with Sprint and Olympic triathlon distances, duathlon options, and marathon distances sitting in between. There is also a Warrior Weekend Challenge format that lets you spread the effort across both days.
Registration closes online at 18:00 on Wednesday 29th July 2026, though late entry is available on-site 45 minutes before your event, subject to availability. Entry fees run from around €30 for the 10K up to €100 for the Half Warrior. Each race begins with a mandatory brief covering transitions, course directions, and safety. On-course support includes rescue boats on the lake, marshals throughout, first aid cover, and water and food stations. Wetsuits are required for the swim. Bring your own roadworthy bike and helmet - no hire is available on site.
If you want to stay for the full weekend, on-site camping can be booked in advance by contacting the centre directly. Hotels and self-catering accommodation are also listed on the Celtic Warrior website.
Lilliput Adventure Centre sits on the southern shore of Lough Ennell, about ten minutes from Mullingar town. By car from Dublin, the journey takes roughly an hour - exit the N6 at Tyrrellspass or Kilbeggan, both about ten minutes from the venue. Mullingar itself is well served by Bus Éireann and Irish Rail from Dublin Connolly (roughly 75 minutes by train), though you will need a car or taxi for the final stretch to the lakeside venue. Free parking is included with event entry.
Mullingar is a busy market town with a good range of cafes, restaurants, and pubs for post-race recovery, and Lough Ennell itself is a fine spot for a quieter walk the day before or after. There is more to see in Mullingar and across Co. Westmeath.
