Women of the Well: Retreat for Christian Women at An Tairseach

At An Tairseach Ecology and Spirituality Centre · Kilmantin Hill, Wicklow Town, Co. Wicklow, A67 YX26

Women of the Well retreat at An Tairseach, Wicklow

Women of the Well is a five-day residential retreat for Christian women at An Tairseach, the Dominican-run ecology and spirituality centre outside Wicklow town. Facilitated by Taylor Marie Daniels and Melanie O’Driscoll, it runs from Tuesday, 25 August to Saturday, 29 August 2026. The retreat sets aside a working week for rest, reflection and community among women who want to explore their Christian faith alongside practical wellness work, on the grounds of a working organic farm rather than in a conference hotel.

What to expect

The five days are built around a mix of guided reflection, rest and gentle wellness practice, rooted in Christian faith rather than generic self-help. Facilitators Taylor Marie Daniels and Melanie O’Driscoll lead group sessions through the week, with time built in for quiet, unstructured reflection as well as shared meals drawn from An Tairseach’s own organic farm. The centre’s Victorian walled garden and farmland setting are part of the programme, not just the backdrop, with outdoor time built into most days. As a residential retreat, accommodation and meals are provided on site for the full five nights, and the small group size is intended to keep sessions personal rather than lecture-style. The retreat sits alongside An Tairseach’s wider programme of Christian and eco-spirituality courses running through the same autumn season.

Getting there

An Tairseach is on Kilmantin Hill on the edge of Wicklow town, a short drive or taxi ride from the town centre. Wicklow has its own railway station on the Dublin to Rosslare line and a Bus Éireann stop in the town centre. Onsite parking is available for anyone arriving by car.

While you’re in Wicklow Town

Wicklow town is worth building time around, before arrival or after the retreat ends. The harbour and the Norman ruins of Black Castle are both a short walk from the town centre. There is more to see in Wicklow Town and across Co. Wicklow.
