Achill Island Market - Recurring Weekly Food and Craft Market

At Achill Island Market - Cashel and Keel locations · Ted's Bar Cashel and Keel Beach Village, Achill Island, Co. Mayo

Achill Island Market with local food, crafts and artisan goods

What to Expect

Achill Island Market features 12 or more local vendors selling fresh produce, homebaking, local honey, handmade jewellery, crafts and artisan goods from Achill producers. Summer markets run 11:30am to 2:30pm from May to September, split across two locations on different days: Cashel on Wednesdays and Keel Beach Village on Saturdays. Vendors include producers of Keem Bay Fish Products, Achill Mountain Lamb and Achill Island Sea Salt, giving the market a distinctly island character rather than generic farmers market stock, since several stallholders are working with produce that comes directly off the island itself. Because the market only runs through the summer season, it lines up with the busiest months for visitors doing the Atlantic Drive, Keem Bay or the Achill stretch of the Great Western Greenway, and it is worth timing a visit around one of the two market days if browsing local food and crafts is part of the plan. Both locations are informal and outdoor, with food and drink available to eat on the spot as well as produce to take away.

Getting There

Achill Island is reached via the Michael Davitt Bridge at Achill Sound, connected to the mainland by the R319. Cashel and Keel are both on this same road, roughly 15 to 20 minutes apart by car; there is no rail service to the island, and public transport is limited, so a car is the practical way to reach either market.

While You’re on Achill

Achill is Ireland’s largest offshore island, with Keem Bay, Dooagh and the deserted village at Slievemore all within easy reach of Keel and Cashel. There is more to see in Achill Sound, Keel and across Co. Mayo.
