At glor Irish Music Centre · Causeway Link, Ennis, Co. Clare
One of the world’s best known cellists, Julian Lloyd Webber, comes to glor with his wife, pianist Jiaxin, for an intimate evening billed as “an evening of music, stories and celebration”. The programme is built around Bach’s Cello Suites and their influence on Lloyd Webber’s own career, mixed with live performances from Jiaxin, personal video archive footage and reflections on a career that has included work with Elton John, Philip Glass and Yehudi Menuhin. Lloyd Webber also plays highlights from his extensive recording catalogue, including material from his Brit Award winning Elgar recording, giving the evening the feel of a guided personal retrospective rather than a straight recital. The show runs for around two hours including an interval, and closes with an audience question and answer session, so ticket holders get a genuine chance to put questions directly to both musicians about their careers and their approach to Bach.
