At Blarney Castle and Gardens · Blarney, Co. Cork
Blarney Castle and its 60 acres of gardens are a classic Cork family outing. Families can climb the 127 steps to kiss the famous Blarney Stone at the top of the 15th-century castle tower, explore the atmospheric Rock Close, wander through the Poison Garden, discover underground caves, walk lakeside trails, and let children play in the on-site playground. Allow at least two to three hours for a family visit; the gardens alone are worth 90 minutes. In July and August queues for the Blarney Stone can reach 45 minutes - arriving at opening time minimises waiting.
Blarney is about 8 km northwest of Cork City centre. Accessible by bus from Cork Bus Station (Bus Eireann service 215). Free parking at the castle.
