Brownshill Dolmen, located just outside Carlow Town, is a neolithic portal tomb estimated to be over 5,000 years old and one of the largest in Europe. The site is free and open access year-round, making it an easy and educational family outing. Children enjoy the imposing capstone (estimated at 100 tonnes) and the open countryside setting.
Free, open access at all times (no gates or opening hours).
Venue: Brownshill, about 3km east of Carlow Town on the R726 towards Hacketstown.

Take the R726 Hacketstown Road east from Carlow Town. Brownshill Dolmen is signposted after about 3km on the right-hand side. Small OPW car park on site.
