Carlow GAA Cul Camp 2026

At Netwatch Cullen Park and Local GAA Clubs · Netwatch Cullen Park, Carlow Town, Co. Carlow

Children playing GAA football at a summer Cul Camp

Each summer, Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps bring thousands of children across Ireland into their local GAA grounds for a week of football, hurling and camogie coaching. The Carlow edition runs across the county throughout July and August, with one of the main venues being Netwatch Cullen Park in Carlow town - a proper county ground, opened in 1936 and home to Carlow’s senior football and hurling teams. For children aged 6 to 13, it is a genuine week away from screens and into a sport that is rooted in the county. Parents get a break; kids get tired in the right way.

What to expect

The format is the same at every Cúl Camp: Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 3:00pm, with coaching organised by age group and ability. Coaches focus on the core skills - catching, striking, kicking, handpassing - and then put those skills straight into small-sided games. The emphasis is on enjoyment and personal development rather than competitive pressure, so children who have never picked up a hurl are just as welcome as those already playing club football.

Every child who registers receives a Kellogg’s GAA jersey, a quarter-zip top and a backpack, which tends to be a highlight in itself. Sessions are player-centred and age-appropriate, with Gaelic football, hurling and camogie all covered, and rounders where there is time. Carlow GAA also runs a separate Inclusive Cúl Camp at Netwatch Cullen Park for children with additional needs - check the booking site for exact dates.

Camps run at multiple venues across the county, not only at Cullen Park. The Carlow GAA website and the main booking site list each week’s location, so it is worth checking which one suits you geographically.

Getting there

Carlow town is on the main Dublin to Waterford road (N9/M9), about an hour south of the capital. Netwatch Cullen Park sits off the Kilkenny Road on the south side of town, with parking at the ground. If you are travelling by train, Carlow Station is served by Irish Rail on the Dublin Heuston to Waterford line, and the ground is about a 20-minute walk or a short taxi from there. For camps at rural clubs across the county, the individual club address is the only reliable guide - consult the booking site when registering.

While you’re in Carlow

Carlow town is a compact and easy place to spend a morning while camp is on - the Carlow County Museum, the ruins of Carlow Castle and the banks of the Barrow are all within easy reach of the centre. There is more to see in Carlow and across Co. Carlow.
