World Meeting of Families Opening Evening Prayer, Carlow Cathedral

What to Expect

Bishop Denis Nulty warmly invites the faithful to the Cathedral of the Assumption in Carlow for the Kildare and Leighlin diocesan opening of the World Meeting of Families on Tuesday 21 August 2026 at 7:30pm. The occasion is marked with a specially prepared Evening Prayer liturgy, with over 150 choir members from across the diocese taking part, alongside young people and families.

Light refreshments are available in the cathedral grounds before the liturgy begins. The World Meeting of Families is a major global Catholic event bringing together families and the wider Church in a period of celebration, catechesis and prayer.
