Commemoration of Colm Cille’s feast day at Clonmacnoise, one of Ireland’s most important early Christian monastic sites. Founded by St Ciaran in the 6th century, Clonmacnoise overlooks the River Shannon and features impressive high crosses, round towers, and cathedral ruins. The feast of Colm Cille (Columba) is traditionally observed on July 9th.
Clonmacnoise is located on the banks of the River Shannon in County Offaly, accessible via the Pilgrim Paths heritage route network.
