Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire comes to The Everyman in Cork for a three night run from Thursday August 20 to Saturday August 22, 2026, with all performances starting at 7:30pm. The production is set in the French Quarter of 1940s New Orleans, where a troubled Southern belle named Blanche DuBois arrives to stay with her younger sister Stella and is drawn into open conflict with Stella’s husband, Stanley Kowalski. The clash between Blanche’s fading gentility and Stanley’s raw temper builds into one of the great confrontations of American theatre, and this staging brings the play’s heat, tension and tragedy to Cork’s oldest working playhouse. The production carries a 15A recommendation, with content covering sexual assault, domestic violence, substance abuse and mental health decline, so it is intended for a mature adult audience rather than family viewing.
The Everyman is on MacCurtain Street on Cork’s northside, a 10 to 15 minute walk from the city centre and around 5 minutes from Kent Station for anyone arriving by train. Several city bus routes stop close to MacCurtain Street, and there is on-street and nearby car park parking for those driving in, though spaces can be tight on performance nights.
With only three performances, and Cork’s amateur and professional drama scene keeping a close eye on Williams revivals, this short run is likely to sell through its stronger dates first, so booking ahead of the weekend is the safer option.
