The Cork Butter Museum in Shandon celebrates the story of Ireland’s most successful historical food export. The museum is family-friendly with interactive elements including butter-making demonstrations (daily at 11am - arrive early for a seat), children’s craft activities, and hands-on exhibits such as making butter stamps and measuring your age in bog years. The exhibits trace the trade that made Cork one of Europe’s great commercial cities in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The museum is on O’Connell Square in Shandon, a short uphill walk north from Cork City centre. Parking is limited in Shandon; walk from the city centre or use park-and-ride.
