As part of National Heritage Week 2026, Oisin Dilger performs a recital on the famous 49-bell carillon of St Colman’s Cathedral, Cobh. Dilger is currently pursuing two-year postgraduate studies at the Royal Carillon School in Mechelen, Belgium. The 49-bell carillon is the only complete carillon in Ireland and is listed as part of Ireland’s National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The recital lasts one hour. Good listening spots include the Garden of Remembrance across from the Cathedral entrance and the car park to the north of the building. Visitors can also watch the instrument being played live on a screen inside the Cathedral.
St Colman’s Cathedral overlooks Cobh town centre. Cobh is served by direct rail from Cork Kent Station approximately every 30 to 45 minutes (journey time about 25 minutes). Parking is available in Cobh town centre.
