At Cork Opera House · Emmet Place, Cork
The ELO Tribute Show brings the orchestral pop sound of Electric Light Orchestra to the main stage at Cork Opera House on Thursday 3 September. ELO built their reputation in the 1970s and 80s by fusing rock band instrumentation with string sections and layered studio production, and tribute shows built around their catalogue typically lean on a full live band replicating that sound, working through the hits that made the group one of the best-selling acts of their era. Cork Opera House is the city’s main civic concert venue, a modern auditorium on Emmet Place with tiered seating and a proper concert sound system, so tribute and covers shows here are staged properly rather than as a pub gig. It’s a seated show aimed at an audience who grew up with the original records as much as newer listeners discovering the songs through tribute performances, and the venue’s central location makes it an easy addition to a night out in Cork city.
Cork Opera House is on Emmet Place in Cork city centre, close to the Crawford Art Gallery and a short walk from St Patrick’s Street and the main city-centre car parks.
