Film Programme at Féile 2026, Nerve Centre Derry

What to Expect

Nine free film screenings run as part of Féile 2026, Derry’s community arts festival, at the Nerve Centre on Magazine Street from Thursday 6 August to Friday 14 August 2026. The programme leans documentary and issue-led rather than mainstream cinema, opening with Displace: The Battle for Dublin, a housing crisis documentary, followed the next day by Life Support, about Gaza’s hospitals during the war, screened with a Q&A from Dr Nick Maynard. Other titles include On the Line, a showcase of young filmmakers’ work, Birds of War, a love story set against the Syrian conflict, and Shoot the People, following photographer Misan Harriman documenting activism around the world. Journacide: The War on Truth looks at the targeting of journalists in conflict zones. Thursday 13 August is a double bill, Celtic Utopia on the Irish folk music renaissance at 6pm, followed by The Time Is Now!, about the Craigavon Two case, with a director Q&A at 7.30pm. The run closes on Friday 14 August with A People’s Emergency Briefing, a film on the climate and nature crisis followed by a panel discussion. The Nerve Centre, which hosts the programme, is a Derry media and arts organisation better known for its youth media, music and animation work as well as its year-round film screenings.

• Runs Thursday 6 August to Friday 14 August 2026, screenings mostly starting at 7pm, with an earlier 6pm start for Celtic Utopia on 13 August.
• Venue: Nerve Centre, 7-8 Magazine Street, Derry.
• Admission is free for every screening, but each film is booked separately via its own Eventbrite page through the Nerve Centre’s website, and early booking is worth doing as the screening room has limited capacity.

Getting There

The Nerve Centre is in the city centre on Magazine Street, close to the Guildhall and within the city walls, with several public car parks and bus stops nearby, making it an easy stop for anyone already in Derry for the day.
