What to Expect

Nerve Cinema is the Nerve Centre’s regular strand of single-screening film nights, running most Tuesday and Wednesday evenings through autumn 2026 in the venue’s own cinema on Magazine Street. Programming mixes new independent releases, music documentaries and archive restorations rather than mainstream new releases, giving Derry a genuine alternative to the multiplex at Brunswick Moviebowl. The season resumes after the Féile 2026 festival break with Lesbian Lines on Thursday 27 August at 6.30pm, followed the next evening by Queers for Years. Through September and October the schedule includes titles such as 500 Miles, Tuner, Normal, Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, a 4K restoration of Paul Thomas Anderson’s 1997 comedy-drama Boogie Nights, Tony, Ish, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, Late Fame, Everybody Digs Bill Evans and Queen at Sea. A recurring “Rip It Up” music-film strand runs across three of the autumn dates, pairing Shane Meadows’ This Is England with the Beatles’ 1964 film A Hard Day’s Night and the Belfast punk story Good Vibrations. Each film is a standalone ticketed event rather than a subscription series, so audiences can pick and choose which nights to attend.
