Mid Ulster District Council brings its Halloween programme to Maghera on Saturday 31 October 2026 with a “Halloween Hooley” at Maghera Leisure Centre, followed by a fireworks display at the nearby St Patrick’s College playing fields. It is a free, family-oriented event and forms part of the council’s wider Halloween programme across Mid Ulster, which also includes celebrations in Cookstown, Dungannon and Coalisland. As of research date the exact start time had not yet been published by the council, with the listing showing “time to be confirmed.” Maghera is one of the larger towns on the County Derry side of Mid Ulster district, and its Halloween event is generally the main organised celebration for the town rather than being one of several competing events, so it tends to draw families from the surrounding rural area as well as the town itself. The Leisure Centre and playing fields sit close enough together that the evening typically moves as one crowd from the indoor “Hooley” to the outdoor fireworks display, which is generally the highlight most families come out for. As with other council-run Halloween events, attendees should expect crowds and dress for late-October weather, since the fireworks portion is held outdoors regardless of conditions.
