What to Expect

The Doolin Saturday Market and Craft Fair runs every Saturday from April to September at the Russell Cultural Centre, in one of Ireland’s best-known traditional music villages. Local artists and craft workers from Doolin, the Burren and the wider West Clare area take tables inside the centre, with a changing line-up that typically includes handmade ceramics, jewellery, woodwork, textiles, prints and paintings, alongside fresh vegetables, free-range eggs and home baking from local growers. The centre itself has plenty of parking and toilets, making it an easy stop for the many visitors passing through Doolin on the way to or from the Cliffs of Moher and the Doolin ferry to the Aran Islands. Because Doolin’s economy runs heavily on tourism through the summer months, the market has a strong visitor as well as local following, and stallholders are used to selling to a mixed crowd of holidaymakers looking for a memento and locals doing a weekly shop. The fair sits alongside Doolin’s other well-known weekly draw, its traditional Irish music sessions in pubs including Gus O’Connor’s, McDermott’s and McGann’s, so a Saturday morning at the market can easily turn into a full day in the village. Doolin Pier, a short walk or drive from the centre, runs regular ferries to the Aran Islands and cliff-view boat trips past the Cliffs of Moher through the season, and many visitors combine a market browse with a sailing later in the day.

Getting There

Doolin is in North Clare on the Wild Atlantic Way, about 6km north of Liscannor and 7km south of the Cliffs of Moher. Local bus services connect Doolin with Ennis, Lisdoonvarna and Galway through the summer timetable.
