The Dublin Marathon is one of the great European city marathons. Every October, 25,000 runners take on 26.2 miles through the streets of Dublin, supported by hundreds of thousands of spectators lining the route. Whether you’re running or watching, it’s a brilliant day.

What to Expect

A fast, flat, and friendly marathon through Dublin’s streets. The route passes many of Dublin’s most famous landmarks and the crowd support is legendary. Irish marathon spectators are the best in the world, with live music, fancy dress supporters, and genuine encouragement for every single runner from first to last.

  • Last Monday in October (bank holiday), 8:45am start

  • Registration from - ‚¬85 - opens months in advance and sells out

  • Start and finish at Merrion Square

  • Route takes in Phoenix Park, the city centre, and south Dublin

  • Best spectator spots: Merrion Square, Grafton Street area, Phoenix Park

  • Road closures across the city from early morning
