What to Expect

The Joe Duffy BMW Clontarf Half Marathon & Mile takes place on Saturday 14 November 2026, with the half marathon setting off at 10:00am and the 5-mile race starting half an hour later at 10:30am. Both races start and finish at EastPoint Business Park, and the course is widely marketed as Ireland’s flattest half marathon, making it a popular pick for runners chasing a personal best as well as first-timers looking for a manageable route.

The half marathon route heads out along the EastPoint Causeway towards Alfie Byrne Road and onto the Clontarf Road promenade, passing alongside St Anne’s Park before continuing out towards Sutton and looping back via the Causeway Road. The shorter 5-mile option follows the same promenade route but turns for home at the Wooden Bridge, giving a scenic but shorter alternative along the coast for those not ready to take on the full distance. Much of the course runs beside Dublin Bay and Bull Island, giving runners sea views for a large stretch of the route.

This is the winter edition of the Clontarf Half Marathon, which also runs a summer edition earlier in the year, and it has built a loyal following among Dublin’s running community for its flat, fast course and coastal scenery. As with any large road race, registration should be done in advance through the event’s official channels, and runners should allow time for parking or public transport given road closures along the route on race morning.

Getting There

EastPoint Business Park is off the Clontarf Road, Dublin 3, close to Fairview and the East Wall. It’s served by Dublin Bus routes along the Clontarf Road and is within reach of Clontarf Road DART station.
