What to Expect

Dun Laoghaire’s Sunday market takes place in People’s Park, the Victorian park just off the seafront rather than the town centre streets. Run under Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, it draws over 50 traders each week selling hot food from around the world, freshly baked goods, art, handmade crafts and a range of artisan food products. The park setting, with its bandstand and mature trees, gives it a more relaxed, destination feel than a typical high-street market, and it is popular with both locals doing a weekend shop and visitors combining it with a walk along the Dun Laoghaire seafront.

Getting There

People’s Park is a five-minute walk from Dun Laoghaire DART station, on the line running south from Dublin city centre. Several Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead routes also serve Dun Laoghaire town centre. There is street parking nearby and a public car park close to the DART station for anyone driving from further afield.

While You’re There

Dun Laoghaire’s East and West Piers are a short walk from the park and one of the most popular sea walks in south Dublin, especially on a fine Sunday when the market is on. The town’s harbour front has cafes, an ice cream tradition at Teddy’s, and the National Maritime Museum of Ireland nearby, so a market visit fits easily into a longer day out on the coast.
