At Edenderry GAA Grounds · Edenderry, Co. Offaly
The Edenderry Music Festival rounds off its weekend with a free family day on Sunday, July 5, opening the gates at the GAA Grounds to all ages at no cost. After two ticketed evenings of live music on Friday and Saturday, the organisers switch gears entirely: the big top marquee that hosted tribute acts and local artists becomes a children’s playground for the day. If you have young kids and fancy a day out in the Midlands without spending much, this is a straightforward win.
The entertainment on the Sunday is squarely aimed at children, with enough variety to keep a range of ages happy. Bouncy castles and a children’s fun fair provide the classic outdoor-festival fodder, while a dedicated kids’ comedy show and party games add structure to the afternoon. Paw Patrol characters are confirmed for the day, which will land well with younger children who recognise the faces. The standout draw, billed as a first for Edenderry, is the arrival of an American Monster Truck - the kind of oversized vehicle that tends to stop children (and plenty of adults) in their tracks.
The festival itself is described as one of the largest in the Midlands. The Friday and Saturday nights feature headline tribute acts - Mack Fleetwood performing the Fleetwood Mac catalogue on Friday, and The Tumbling Paddies topping the bill on Saturday - alongside a supporting cast of local acts. The Sunday family day is free regardless of whether you attended the earlier nights.
