If the Electric Light Orchestra’s run of hits from the 1970s and 80s means anything to you - Mr. Blue Sky on a grey morning, Evil Woman on the radio - this show is worth the trip. The ELO Tribute Show bills itself as the world’s greatest tribute to Jeff Lynne and ELO, and it comes to Derry’s Millennium Forum on Friday 11 September 2026 with the full production: a live band, a female string section, lasers, 3D video screens, and the famous giant spaceship prop. It suits anyone who grew up with ELO on vinyl, anyone who caught the 2019 Glastonbury comeback on television, or anyone who wants a big, cheerful night out in a serious theatre.
This is not a pub covers act. The ELO Tribute Show recreates the scale of ELO’s own touring production - the string section is live, not tracked, which matters on songs like Livin’ Thing and Can’t Get It Out of My Head. The set draws from across the catalogue, so you will hear the big ones (Don’t Bring Me Down, Evil Woman, Mr. Blue Sky) alongside deeper cuts. The Millennium Forum is a 1,000-seat theatre with the largest stage in Ireland, so sight lines are good and the sound system does the production justice. The Speakeasy bar inside the Forum is a good spot for a pre-show drink.
The Millennium Forum is on Newmarket Street in Derry city centre, walkable from the main bus stops. Translink operates services from Belfast, Letterkenny, Omagh, Coleraine and across the North West - the Foyle Street Bus Station is about five minutes on foot. If you are driving, the venue has no car park of its own, but there are over 2,500 off-street spaces within a five-minute walk. Foyleside Shopping Centre (East Car Park) is the most popular for evening shows and stays open until 11:30pm Wednesday to Saturday.
Derry is an easy city to spend a day in before an evening show. The city walls, the Bogside murals, and the Guildhall are all within walking distance of the Forum, and there is no shortage of places to eat along Shipquay Street. There is more to see in Derry and across Co. Derry.
