Enniscorthy Visual Arts Festival

At Multiple venues across Enniscorthy · Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford

Enniscorthy Visual Arts Festival

Three weeks of free visual art spread across one of the most characterful towns in the south-east: that is the pitch of the Enniscorthy Visual Arts Festival. Running 20 August to 10 September 2026, it pulls together exhibitions, installations, artist residencies and public art projects, giving seasoned gallery-goers and curious passers-by alike a reason to slow down. It suits anyone who enjoys contemporary or traditional art without an admission fee, and works just as well for a family day trip as for a more deliberate arts visit.

What to expect

The festival is organised by the Enniscorthy Arts Community and uses multiple venues across the town rather than one central hub - exhibitions turn up in galleries, community halls and public spaces simultaneously. Expect site-specific installations that respond to the town’s built environment, participatory pieces where visitors contribute rather than just observe, and artist talks that are usually open without booking.

The Presentation Arts Centre on Convent Road is one of the town’s established gallery spaces, with hours running most weekdays and Saturday mornings. Past shows there have covered photography, drawing, oil painting and mixed-media work by local and national artists. The full festival programme is published through local tourism information and the organisers’ social channels closer to the date - worth checking if you want to catch a specific show on a specific day.

Getting there

Enniscorthy sits on the N11/M11 corridor, roughly an hour south of Dublin and twenty minutes north of Wexford town. Bus Eireann runs regular services on the Dublin - Wexford route with a stop in Enniscorthy, and Wexford town has onward rail connections. Drivers will find on-street parking and car parks near the river and castle. Festival venues are spread through the centre but are walkable from any of the main car parks.

While you’re in Enniscorthy

The town rewards a full afternoon - the castle, the riverside walk along the Slaney and the hill climb to the 1798 memorial are all close to the centre. There is more to see in Enniscorthy and across Co. Wexford.
