At Ardhowen Theatre · Ardhowen Theatre, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh
Playwright Viv Brennan’s farce arrives in Enniskillen this July, bringing the mayhem it has caused across Northern Ireland on the Belvoir Players’ Summer Tour 2026. If you enjoy comedy that crackles with genuine Belfast wit and draws its laughs from the absurdities of life in a divided city, this is a sharp, very funny night out - the kind that has audiences talking on the walk to the car park.
Rab Devlin has been quietly making a nice living renovating Housing Executive properties and pocketing the proceeds. It has worked a treat for years - until his wife, apparently unaware of the arrangement, places a newspaper advertisement that blows the whole scheme open. Rab’s solution is to claim paramilitary intimidation. Sensible enough, except that loyalists, republicans, and the RUC all turn up simultaneously to offer their protection. From that point on, the lies multiply faster than Rab can manage them, every group must be kept ignorant of the others, and the walls of his kitchen begin to feel very, very small.
Belvoir Players, based at Belvoir Studio Theatre in Belfast, have been a fixture on the amateur and semi-professional touring circuit in the north for decades. They bring a well-drilled ensemble style to farce that rewards the genre: doors, disguises, double-takes and the mounting pressure of a man who cannot stop digging. The production runs on two nights - 24 and 25 July - both at 8:00pm, so there is flexibility if your first choice sells out.
The Ardhowen Theatre sits on Dublin Road on the southern edge of Enniskillen town, about a five-minute walk from the main shopping streets. There are several car parks on the grounds of the theatre itself, with dedicated disabled bays - Blue Badge holders should mention this when booking at the box office. Roadside parking around the venue is restricted, so use the on-site car parks or the overflow at Celtic Park nearby (roughly a 5-minute walk). If you are coming by bus, Enniskillen Bus Station is the hub for Translink services across Fermanagh and beyond; from there the theatre is a 10 to 15 minute walk along the Forthill Street and Dublin Road direction. Allow extra time for exit traffic on a Friday or Saturday night when the car parks fill up.
Enniskillen is a genuinely pleasant town to spend a few hours before curtain - the castle, the waterfront walkway along Lower Lough Erne, and the old town centre are all within easy reach of the Ardhowen. There is more to see in Enniskillen and across Co. Fermanagh.
