Garrison Community Group brings the Wild West to the edge of the village each summer for Melvin Fest, a family festival at Rusheen. The 2026 event runs from 2pm on Saturday, 1 August, with a small entry charge for children and free admission for adults. It is one of the fixed dates in the west Fermanagh summer calendar, drawing families from Garrison, Kesh and the Lough Melvin shoreline for an afternoon built around outdoor, low-cost fun.
The 2026 programme, confirmed by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, centres on bouncing castles, a Last Man Standing knockout competition and a tug of war, alongside food vans and coffee stands trading through the afternoon and live music keeping the field going. The Wild West branding that gives the festival its name has run through past editions as fancy dress and cowboy themed stalls, so children turning up in a hat and boots will not be out of place. Melvin Fest is run entirely by volunteers from Garrison Community Group, and past editions have used the day to raise funds and awareness for local causes alongside the entertainment. Because it is a field event rather than a ticketed venue, capacity is informal and families tend to come and go across the afternoon rather than book a fixed slot.
Rusheen is on the edge of Garrison village, close to the Fermanagh side of Lough Melvin and a short drive from the Leitrim and Donegal borders. Garrison sits on the A46, roughly 25 minutes from Enniskillen and Belleek. There is no rail service to this part of Fermanagh, so a car is the practical way to reach the site; roadside and field parking is typically available for festival days.
Garrison is a small angling and watersports village on Lough Melvin, with Lough Melvin Holiday Centre and several lakeside walks nearby. It makes an easy base for a day that combines the festival with time on the water. There is more to see in Garrison and across Co. Fermanagh.
