Gerry Guthrie in Concert

At Westport Town Hall Theatre · The Octagon, Westport, Co. Mayo

Gerry Guthrie in Concert poster

What to Expect

Mayo-based musician Gerry Guthrie fronts his five-piece touring band for a home-county show at Westport Town Hall Theatre on Thursday 17 September 2026. Guthrie has released six studio albums and picked up multiple hit radio singles along with awards including Vocal Performance of the Year and Musician of the Year, and this concert marks his second nationwide tour following a run of sold-out shows. Special guests John Glenn and Mick Mulhern join him on the Westport bill, adding extra variety to what is already a full band show rather than a solo acoustic set. Expect a night built around Guthrie’s own catalogue - the kind of home-turf gig where a Mayo audience already knows the songs - performed with a full band arrangement rather than stripped back. The Octagon-side Town Hall Theatre is one of Westport’s more intimate venues, so even with a five-piece band on stage it stays a close, room-filling sound rather than an arena-scale production. Guthrie’s back catalogue of hit radio singles means the room is likely to know the words before the band gets to the second verse, and with two named special guests joining him, the night is built more like a variety concert than a single-artist gig.

Getting There

Westport Town Hall Theatre sits right on the Octagon in the centre of Westport, one of Ireland’s few planned towns, with the tree-lined Mall a short walk away. Westport is about two and a half hours from Dublin by road via the N5, with Irish Rail running a daily service from Dublin Heuston and Bus Eireann connecting from Galway and Castlebar. Street parking and several car parks serve the town centre.

While You’re in Westport

Westport’s Octagon and Mall are worth a stroll before the show, and the town has no shortage of pubs and restaurants for a pre-show meal within easy walking distance of the theatre. There is more to see in Westport and across Co. Mayo.
