The Harvest Food Festival, billed locally as the Harvest Supper Club, brings an autumn celebration of Irish harvest traditions and ancient Samhain customs to Temperance Hall in Longford town on Friday 9 October 2026. Doors open at 6pm with seating from 7:30pm, and the evening is built around a multi-course menu using locally-sourced ingredients from regional farmers and artisan producers, with a strong focus on seasonal autumn flavours rather than a fixed printed menu handed out in advance.
Rather than a stage-and-stalls festival with multiple vendors, this is a single sit-down evening for a set number of covers inside Temperance Hall, pitched as a community gathering built around a shared table as much as a meal out, tying the ingredients and themes on the plate back to the old Samhain harvest calendar and the turn of the farming year. Samhain itself marked the end of the harvest and the start of the darker half of the year in the old Gaelic calendar, traditionally a time for gathering in food, closing up the fields and marking the turn of the season with a shared meal, which is the thread this evening is pulling on. Running through to 11:30pm, the evening has room to stretch into a proper night out rather than a quick dinner and home, with conversation and courses paced across the hours rather than rushed.
Temperance Hall is on Annville Place off New Street, in the centre of Longford town, within walking distance of the train station on the Dublin Heuston to Westport and Ballina line and of the main town centre car parks. Longford town itself is on the N4 Dublin to Sligo road, about 90 minutes from Dublin by car, with Bus Eireann services also serving the town directly from Dublin and other midlands towns. Given the venue is in the town centre and the evening runs late, walking or a taxi back to accommodation is worth planning ahead of arranging a car.
