Her Outdoors: Teen Girl Watersports, Kilkee

What to Expect

This three-day summer programme, run by Nevsail Kilkee in partnership with Clare Sports Partnership, introduces teenage girls aged 12 to 18 to watersports on Kilkee Beach. Each day brings a 90-minute session with qualified instructors, and across the three days participants are rotated through different beach-based watersports depending on conditions on the day. It sits within Clare Sports Partnership’s wider Her Outdoors programme, which specifically targets teenage girls as well as adult women, since national participation data consistently shows teenage girls dropping out of sport and physical activity at a higher rate than teenage boys through their secondary school years. Running the sessions as a girls-only group, rather than mixed in with general watersports camps, is a deliberate part of that strategy. All watersports equipment and wetsuits are supplied as part of the fee, so nothing needs to be bought or borrowed in advance, and instructors are experienced in working with beginners who may never have been in the sea with a board before.

• Monday 17 to Wednesday 19 August 2026, 10:30am to 12:00pm each day, on Kilkee Beach.
• Cost is €15 for the full three-day programme; booking is through the Clare Sports Partnership website, and the session has previously shown as sold out, so check for availability or a waiting list before travelling.
• Aimed at girls aged 12-18; no watersports experience necessary.

Getting There

Kilkee Beach is the main strand in Kilkee town on Clare’s west coast, with parking along the seafront promenade and within a short walk of the town centre.
