At Vicar Street · 58-59 Thomas Street, Dublin 8, Co. Dublin
One of Britain’s most distinctive stand-up voices comes to Dublin for four nights this July. James Acaster - the BAFTA-nominated comedian known for his surreal logic, deadpan delivery, and genuinely strange tangents that somehow always land - is bringing a brand new show to Vicar Street from 8 to 11 July 2026. If you’ve seen his Netflix specials or heard his podcast work, you’ll know what to expect in the best possible way. If you haven’t, this is a fine place to start.
Acaster is performing a completely new show - details are held close, which is very much his style. What you can count on is the signature blend of absurdist storytelling, carefully constructed confusion, and a comedian who is clearly enjoying himself. Vicar Street holds around 1,050 for seated shows and is genuinely one of the better rooms in the country for stand-up: intimate enough that the comic can work the whole space, big enough that the energy builds properly. Doors open at 7:00 pm with bars open from 6:30 pm. The age guidance is 14+. With four nights running Wednesday to Saturday, there’s flexibility on which date suits - all shows start at 8:00 pm.
Vicar Street sits on Thomas Street in Dublin 8, in the Liberties, about a 15-minute walk from Dame Street. Dublin Bus routes along Thomas Street and James’s Street connect the venue to the quays and points across the city. The Luas Red Line stops at Fatima and James’s, both a short walk away. If you’re driving, parking in the Liberties can be tight on evenings - the multi-storeys near Christchurch are a safer bet. Taxis and Ubers drop off on Thomas Street without difficulty.
The Liberties is one of the older parts of the city, with the Guinness Storehouse, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and Kilmainham Gaol all within easy reach if you’re making a day of it. There is more to see in Dublin and across Co. Dublin.
