At Various venues across Co. Derry · Various, Co. Derry
Every July and August, GAA clubs across County Derry open their gates to a week of drills, small-sided games and end-of-week blitzes as part of the Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps - Ireland’s biggest summer camp programme for young players. Open to boys and girls aged 6 to 13 of any ability, the camps give children a proper grounding in Gaelic football and hurling where enjoyment comes first. A child who is already mad about the GAA or one who has never held a sliotar will both get plenty from the week.
Twelve venues across County Derry host camps throughout the summer, with two in Derry city itself - at Celtic Park, the county’s home ground, and at Steelstown - along with club grounds in Magherafelt, Coleraine and Dungiven. The camps run Monday to Friday, 10am to 2.30pm, and are led by qualified GAA coaches. Each day focuses on a different skill - kick passing, hand passing, shooting - and the week builds towards a blitz so every child gets a taste of competitive play. Children booked at least ten days in advance receive a Cúl Camps kit before camp starts. All abilities are welcome; these camps are built around fun and participation, not selection.
