Laughter Lounge - Friday Night Live

At The Laughter Lounge · Eden Quay, Dublin 1, Co. Dublin

Laughter Lounge Friday Night Live comedy show Dublin

Friday nights at the Laughter Lounge are a reliable institution in Dublin. For more than 25 years this club on Eden Quay has been filling its 300-seat room with stand-up comedy, and the Friday Night Live format is the one that built that reputation. Four comedians take to the stage over the course of the evening, working through a mix of styles - from sharp social commentary to classic Irish silliness - before the headliner closes things out. A proper night out that does not require much advance planning, suits groups, couples, and anyone who wants a guaranteed laugh.

What to expect

The show runs on a well-worn structure: an MC kicks things off and ties the night together, then three acts build in order before the headliner. Acts are drawn from Ireland, the UK, the US, and further afield, so the bill rarely feels too local or too samey. All seats are reserved and sightlines are good throughout the room. Food is served during the show - nachos, pizza, finger food platters - and the bar is fully stocked, so there is no need to eat beforehand. Doors open at 7:00pm with a brief interval between acts. Advance booking is strongly recommended; Friday shows regularly sell out.

Getting there

The venue is at 4-8 Eden Quay, Dublin 1, right on the north bank of the Liffey near O’Connell Bridge. It is one of the better-connected spots in the city for public transport. Dublin Bus routes serve O’Connell Street, a two-minute walk away, and the Luas red line stops at Jervis (five minutes on foot) and Connolly (ten minutes). If you are coming by Dart, Connolly Station is the nearest stop. Driving into the city centre on a Friday night is best avoided; if you do bring a car, Q-Park on Cathal Brugha Street or the Ilac Centre car park are reasonable options nearby.

While you’re in Dublin

Eden Quay puts you right at the edge of the city centre, a short walk from the Custom House, O’Connell Street, and the north docks. There is more to see in Dublin and across Co. Dublin.
