Leitrim Sports Partnership - Summer Camp for All

At Lough Rinn · Lough Rinn, Co. Leitrim

Leitrim Sports Partnership Summer Camp

Leitrim Sports Partnership runs this three-day summer camp as one of its flagship inclusion programmes - a genuine mixed-ability sports camp open to children and adults of all abilities and backgrounds. It runs at the Lough Rinn Sport and Recreation Hub, a county council facility set on the banks of one of Leitrim’s most scenic lakes near Ballinamore. If you have a child who finds mainstream sports camps a bit intimidating, or one with additional needs who wants to get active, this is the camp designed around them.

What to expect

The camp is structured by age group, running in morning and afternoon sessions across three days (7-9 July 2026). Activities include kayaking on Lough Rinn, football, tennis, dance, cycling and sensory games - all run by experienced Leitrim Sports Partnership tutors who are used to adapting activities on the fly. The emphasis is squarely on fun and participation rather than competition or performance. Because kayaking is on the programme, organisers ask participants to bring wet gear and a change of clothes. Sessions are capped and well-supervised, so early booking is strongly recommended.

To register, email loughrinnsrh@gmail.com to request an application form, or call 071 965 0498. The camp runs in partnership with Leitrim County Council, Sport Ireland and the HSE.

Getting there

Lough Rinn is a few kilometres outside Ballinamore, which sits on the N87 between Carrick-on-Shannon and Cavan town. From Dublin, it is roughly two hours by car via the N3 through Cavan. Carrick-on-Shannon is the nearest town with Bus Eireann links (routes from Dublin and Sligo), though you would need a car or a lift from there to reach the venue. Parking at the Lough Rinn Hub is available on site.

While you’re in Leitrim

Ballinamore sits on the Shannon-Erne Waterway and is a fine base for a day or two - good for fishing, canal-boat hire and straightforward walks along the towpath. There is more to see in Leitrim and across Co. Leitrim.
