Mohill Agricultural Show 2026

At Show field · Mohill, Co. Leitrim

Mohill Agricultural Show

A free day out that takes you to the core of rural Leitrim, the Mohill Agricultural Show has been a fixture on the South Leitrim calendar since its modern revival in 1927 - and the tradition runs even deeper than that, with the first agricultural show in the area held as far back as 1844. It draws families, farming folk, and curious visitors from across Leitrim and the neighbouring counties every August, and the atmosphere is relaxed, genuinely local, and worth the trip.

What to expect

The show runs across a wide range of disciplines, and there is real variety on the ground. Livestock classes cover brood mares and foals, young horses, Irish Draught horses, thoroughbreds, riding classes, working hunters, ponies, donkeys and carriage driving on the equine side. Cattle classes include both pedigree and commercial entries, with dairy cattle judged separately. Sheep, poultry and rare animals round out the farmyard section.

Away from the livestock rings, the show has strong home industry and craft sections - photography, horticulture and flowers, arts and crafts, and homemade produce. Vintage machinery draws a steady crowd, and trade stands fill out the field. Live music adds to the day. It is the kind of show where you can spend a full afternoon moving between rings without doubling back.

The show is held at Reynolds Topline Sports Hub and McGowan’s Field on the Cloone Road in Mohill. Entry is free.

Getting there

Mohill sits in south County Leitrim, roughly midway between Carrick-on-Shannon and Longford town. The quickest road approach is via the N4 Dublin to Sligo road, turning off at Dromod or Roosky and following the R202 into Mohill - it is about 15 km from the N4. From Carrick-on-Shannon, the R201 runs directly south into town, a drive of around 20 minutes. Bus Eireann serves Mohill on the Dublin to Sligo route, though services are infrequent on Sundays, so checking timetables in advance is wise. Parking at the show field and in the town is generally easy on the day.

While you’re in Mohill

Mohill is a compact market town with a good few pubs, a riverside park at the Rinn River, and easy access to the Lough Rynn estate and gardens a few kilometres to the south. There is more to see in Mohill and across Co. Leitrim.
